A report from Spanish news outlet Todofichajes claims that Inter met with Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone during the World Cup break. The report claims the meeting was an informal chat with the Argentine coach to discuss the possibility of him taking charge of the Nerazzurri next season, despite current Simone Inzaghi having a deal with the club until 2024.
Todofichajes suggest that even with Inter being in second place in Serie A, the team’s performance has been ‘inconsistent’ and the management think that a change of direction is needed. The Argentinian has never hidden his love for the Nerazzurri following his time there as a player, and could now have the opportunity to return to Milan
Simeone has a a contract with Atleti until June 2024, but the clubs performances in recent months have been put in question and the first discontented voices are beginning to emerge among the press and fans.
They are currently in fourth place in La Liga and have already been knocked out of the last 16 of the Champions League, and if they fail to qualify for next seasons edition of the competition, Todofichajes suggest the club board will have to give serious consideration to his future.
