Inter directors reportedly met with their Chelsea counterparts on Wednesday to discuss a potential swap deal for André Onana, with the Nerazzurri requesting one of two players. The Cameroonian interntional has only been in Milan for one season but has impressed many with his strong displays for Inter this season, prompting attention from a number of European clubs.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Onana is a ‘priority target’ for the Blues this summer as they look to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga and Édouard Mendy, with talks having already begun between the two clubs.
The newspaper claims that Inter and Chelsea directors met earlier this week, with the Nerazzuri specifying their price for the coveted goalkeeper, believed to be around €40m.
The Blues are reportedly trying to include a counterpart in the deal, namely Kepa, but Inter are not interested in the Spanish international, and would prefer either Trevoh Chalobah or Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Inter are in need of defensive reinforcements given they are set to lose Milan Skriniar to Paris Saint-Germain this summer on a free transfer, while the future of Stefan de Vrij is also uncertain and talks with Alessandro Bastoni on a contract extension are ongoing.
For the moment, talks between the clubs are still at the early stages, but Inter are prepared to lose Onana after just one season. Gazzetta suggest that if the move goes through, the Nerazzurri will turn their attentions to Empoli shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario, who has already been linked with a number of Serie A sides.
