A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Inter director Piero Ausilio met with Barcelona directors as well as Edoardo Crnjar, the agent of Roberto De Zerbi. The Nerazzurri are thought to be considering their options at the end of the season, with reports from Italy claiming that Simone Inzaghi will depart the club after the current campaign.
Gazzetta write that De Zerbi is the favourite to replace Inzaghi following his impressive work at Brighton, having pushed them up the table to 7th place and potentially their highest ever league finish. Crnjar, who represents De Zerbi, also has close ties to Barcelona, having bought Kevin Prince Boateng and coach Quique Seiten to the Catalans, as well as being the agent of Ronald Araujo’.
Ausilio also reportedly met with Barcelona’s director of sport Mateu Alemany to discuss potential summer transfers, namely Frank Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic, who have long been touted to be part of a swap deal between the two clubs.
Despite the ongoing talks, it’s suggested that Kessies’ hefty wages are still a stumbling block for the Nerazzurri, however discussions are expected to continue until the summer in the hopes of ironing out a deal.
