Inter Interested in Atalanta’s Hien

Start

Inter’s concerns over Francesco Acerbi’s less-than-optimal physical condition and Stefan de Vrij’s advancing age have prompted reports that the Nerazzurri will look for a new centre-back in January.

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has shown appreciation for Atalanta’s Isak Hien, a player who has caught his eye with impressive performances. The club’s radar also includes Jaka Bijol from Udinese, who remains a target of interest. Additionally, Inter have opened a dossier on Lazio’s Mario Gila, a central defender known for his speed – a quality currently lacking in the Nerazzurri’s defensive roster.

Hien, in particular, has garnered significant attention, with reports suggesting Inzaghi is “spellbound” by the Swedish defender’s reliability and quality. However, Atalanta’s reported asking price of around €35 million could prove a stumbling block for any potential January move.

The situation is further complicated by Acerbi’s ongoing injury struggles. The 36-year-old’s recovery from a recent thigh strain is taking longer than expected, raising questions about his long-term reliability.

Looking ahead, Inter seems to be considering various options for the future. The club has been linked with potential free transfers in the summer of 2025, including Kurt Zouma, Jonathan Tah, and Olivier Boscagli. This strategy aligns with Inter’s recent success in the free transfer market, having secured players like Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram in similar deals.
