Inter eyeing Racing Club’s Di Cesare: A rising star in Lautaro’s footsteps

Start

Inter Milan have  reportedly set its sights on Marco Di Cesare, a 22-year-old Argentine defender who has been a key figure in Racing Club’s recent Copa Sudamericana triumph. Di Cesare, who joined Racing from Argentinos Juniors at the start of the season, has quickly established himself as an integral part of Gustavo Costas’ defensive line.

Calciomercato report how the young center-back has made 31 appearances for Racing this year, playing a crucial role in their successful campaign. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Inter reportedly making initial inquiries about the player. The Nerazzurri have already begun discussions with Di Cesare’s agent, Juan Cruz Oller, signaling their serious interest in the defender.

Di Cesare’s current contract with Racing runs until 2027, and the club has protected their asset with a release clause. The clause is currently set at 13 million euros but is scheduled to automatically increase to 15 million euros in 2025. This reflects Racing’s high valuation of the player and their desire to retain his services.

The interest in Di Cesare extends beyond Inter, with clubs like Udinese, RB Leipzig, and Roma having previously shown interest in the talented defender. His participation in the Olympics with the Argentine national team has further boosted his profile on the international stage.

Inter’s interest in Di Cesare follows a pattern of successful acquisitions from Racing Club, most notably Lautaro Martinez. The potential move could see Di Cesare following in the footsteps of his compatriot, making the leap from Racing to the San Siro.
