Inter closing in on signing of Sommer and Samardzic

Start

Inter are in the home stretch in their negotiations for goalkeeper Yann Sommer and midfielder Lazar Samardzic. The club have been in talks with Bayern Munich to find a replacement for Samir Handanovic and Andre Onana, both of whom left Milan this summer.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Sommer is the favorite to take over the goalkeeping reins at the club, but negotiations have dragged on. For this reason, Inter are evaluating the possibility of paying the release clause in Sommer’s contract.

The Nerazzurri, strengthened by their excellent relations with the Bavarian side, had previously decided to negotiate to find a diplomatic agreement. However, if the negotiation with the Germans is not complete by the time they return from their pre-season tour of Japan, Inter will evaluate the payment of the €6 million release clause. The Nerazzurri don’t want to be without a goalkeeper for much longer.

Inter will also meet with Udinese when they return from their tour in order to conclude a deal for Samardzic. The Friulians have accepted the inclusion of Fabbian in the deal. The Inter youngster has agreed to the switch and just needs to reach an agreement on salary.

Inter are expected to pay €15 million plus Fabbian in exchange for Samardzic, but will retain a buyback option on Fabbian for the future.
