Inter and Milan consider €200 million San Siro purchase

Start

Inter Milan and AC Milan have increasingly indicated their intention to build a new stadium, likely adjacent to the current Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro, rather than in Rozzano or San Donato. This decision comes after rejecting the option to renovate the existing structure with WeBuild. The clubs aim to construct a new stadium next to the old one without completely demolishing the current facility.

The project, reminiscent of the 2019 proposal, includes two significant changes: the Meazza will not be entirely demolished, and the land and stadium will become private property to avoid issues with the Milan community.

According to reports from Calciomercato, the valuation of the land and stadium by the Revenue Agency is nearing completion, accelerated by a positive meeting in Rome between club representatives and officials from the Ministry of Culture and Superintendence. The estimated price, including taxes, is expected to be around €175-200 million, covering both the current structure and surrounding land.

This figure will be officially communicated to the clubs by mid-November, marking the final step before initiating the “expression of interest” process that would launch the lengthy construction project. However, opinions on the price differ between the clubs. Milan reportedly considers it too high, while Inter views it as excessive but worth exploring further.

Even if everything proceeds smoothly, the timeline remains extended. In the best-case scenario, groundbreaking would not occur before the second half of 2026.
