Galatasaray continue to soar in the Turkish Super Lig, securing a 3-2 victory against Sivasspor. However, the match brought unfortunate news for the team as star striker Victor Osimhen suffered a muscle injury that will sideline him for the next few weeks.
Osimhen, who has been instrumental for Galatasaray with 10 goals in 13 appearances across the league and UEFA Europa League, scored during the match but was forced to leave the field in the 74th minute due to discomfort. Subsequent medical examinations revealed that he has sustained a low-grade muscle strain and bleeding in the upper right back muscle.
In an official statement, Galatasaray confirmed the nature of Osimhen’s injury and announced that treatment has commenced. Reports suggest that he will be unavailable for approximately two weeks, missing key fixtures including the Europa League clash against Malmo on December 12 and league matches against Trabzonspor on December 16 and Kayserispor on December 22. His expected return is set for January 2025, coinciding with the resumption of league play.
As Galatasaray celebrats their recent success, speculation continues regarding Osimhen’s future with the club. Several top teams, including Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Juventus, are reportedly monitoring his situation, particularly due to a €75 million release clause in his contract. Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna addressed these rumours, stating that no formal inquiries have been made regarding Osimhen’s potential transfer.
