Igor Tudor the favourite to succeed Rudi Garcia

Start

A number of Italian newspapers suggest that Napoli coach Rudi Garcia is set to be fired, with Igor Tudor the favourite to take over. The Partenopei slumped to their fourth defeat of the season across all competitions yesterday, leaving them 10 points behind league leaders Inter and in danger of falling out of the title race.

A 1-0 loss to relegation threatened Empoli on Sunday afternoon was reportedly enough to cause Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to start looking elsewhere.

Il Corriere dello Sport report that following the full-time whistle, De Laurentiis spoke twice to Igor Tudor and his agent, offering him a 7-month contract with the option to extend until 2025. For his part, the Croatian coach didn’t accept immediately, but didn’t turn down the offer either.

The newspaper also report that team training has been bought forward by a day, while De Lauretniis has also imposed a press silence on the team and it’s players.
