Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke about Sandro Tonali, insisting that is his former teammate has an addiction, he needs help. Serie A has been rocked by the revelations that a number of young players, namely Nicolo Fagioli, Nicolo Zaniolo and Tonali have all been betting via illegal gambling channels. Speaking on stage at the ‘Festival dello Sport’ organised in Trento by ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’, Ibra discussed the situation involving Tonali, and why he believes the youngster needs support at this time:
“When he landed at AC Milan Tonali had arrived from Brescia and had just realised his dream. In the first year he was too much of a fan, I told him that this was not good enough. He had to take a further step and be decisive to make the fans happy.
“You could see right away that he was strong, but playing in Brescia with all due respect is not like playing for Milan. Other pressures, other mentality, other goals. At AC Milan if you lose I’m the first to tell you, then the coach, the club and the fans. Clearly you need time to grow, just as your teammates must help you. Football is always a collective sport, not an individual one.
