Ahead of AC Milan’s crucial Champions League match against Club Brugge, former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic shared his thoughts on the team’s progress and challenges. Speaking to Sky Sport, Ibrahimovic expressed optimism about Milan’s development while highlighting areas for improvement.
“I’m seeing a team that is improving a lot,” Ibrahimovic stated. “There’s more balance, but we need more stability. This is something they’re working on. We’ve paid dearly for some mistakes we’ve made. In the Champions League, we haven’t earned any points yet, but today is an opportunity to get something.”
The Swedish legend also commented on manager Paulo Fonseca’s role, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in leadership. “We’re working as always, and we do it to grow,” he said. “Fonseca needs to be himself. He’s the coach, and he makes the choices. Certain things must be resolved internally. They are adults and professionals and must take responsibility.”
Addressing the situation with Rafael Leao, Ibrahimovic noted the young player’s efforts to improve. “Rafael Leao is trying to get better. There are assistants helping him. We ask for discipline and professionalism on the field,” he explained.
Ibrahimovic also touched on Milan’s Champions League aspirations, setting ambitious goals for the team. “The minimum objective in the Champions League? To go as far as possible. We’ve built a team to do well not only in Italy but also in the Champions League. We must do our best in Europe,” he asserted.
Concluding his remarks, Ibrahimovic expressed confidence in the team’s current form. “Milan is doing well, the numbers are positive. The further we go in the Champions League, the better it is, even from a sporting perspective,” he said.
