Ibrahimovic blesses potential Rashford-Milan move as club awaits signal from Manchester United

Start

Marcus Rashford has emerged as an ideal target for AC Milan’s January transfer window ambitions. The versatile English forward fits the profile of what the Rossoneri are seeking – a player capable of operating across the front three positions in a 4-3-3 formation and guaranteeing double-digit goal returns.

While Milan’s management has no complaints about Alvaro Morata’s commitment and locker room presence, there’s a recognition that he and Tammy Abraham haven’t provided the goal output that direct rivals are enjoying from their strikers.

Calciomercato report that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s endorsement adds intrigue to the potential move. The Swedish legend, who played alongside a young Rashford at Manchester United, has reportedly given his blessing to Milan’s pursuit. Ibrahimovic’s influence as an advisor to Milan’s ownership could prove significant.

Contacts between Milan and Manchester United have already taken place, with the Italian club exploring the possibility of a loan deal with United covering a portion of Rashford’s wages. While challenging, the transfer is not deemed impossible.

Time may not be on Milan’s side, as Rashford has been offered to several clubs across Europe. In Italy alone, Napoli, Juventus, and Inter have been approached. Arab clubs are also interested, though Rashford reportedly prefers to stay in Europe, with a particular interest in La Liga.

Working in Milan’s favor is Manchester United’s reluctance to strengthen a Premier League rival. Additionally, Rashford’s relationship with current United manager Ruben Amorim has completely broken down. Milan’s management also views Serie A as an ideal environment to rejuvenate a player struggling with low morale.

The Rossoneri are set to seriously consider Rashford’s dossier from Tuesday onwards. The financial aspect remains a significant hurdle, with Rashford’s €15 million gross salary posing a challenge. Much depends on how much Manchester United are willing to contribute to his wages.
