Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has made headlines once again, this time with comments that seem to be directed at his club coach, Thiago Motta. Despite not scoring in Serbia’s recent 1-1 draw against Switzerland in the Nations League, Vlahovic’s post-match interview has sparked discussion.
The former Fiorentina player, who has recently returned to the national team after missing previous international breaks, expressed satisfaction with Serbia’s performance. “It was a beautiful match between two good teams that played well. We both had many chances, and the game could have gone either way. We’re happy; we showed a good reaction after conceding and continued to play our football until the end. We wanted the win, but this result… let’s say it’s okay for us. Now we hope to get a positive result against Denmark,” Vlahovic stated.
However, it was Vlahovic’s comments about his playing style that caught attention. He revealed his preference for playing alongside another striker, saying, “I like playing with another striker beside me. I feel good, but it also depends on the coach. It’s certainly a bit easier because Mitrovic is a strong player who plays a lot with his back to goal and in aerial duels, and I can exploit my qualities.”
Vlahovic then made a pointed remark that seemed aimed at his club situation: “Also, coach Stojković hasn’t obliged me to do many defensive tasks. And for a player like me, with my build… honestly, I can’t run that much. Because then I’m not fresh for finishing.”
These words appear to be a clear message to Juventus coach Thiago Motta, suggesting that Vlahovic feels his performances could improve with a different tactical approach at the club level. The striker’s comments highlight his desire for a playing style that allows him to focus more on his offensive duties and less on defensive responsibilities.
