“High Injury rates are part of Serie A”: Parma coach Fabio Pecchia addresses team challenges

Start

In a recent press conference ahead of the crucial match against Venezia, Parma’s coach Fabio Pecchia discussed the ongoing challenges faced by his team, particularly regarding the significant number of injuries. Pecchia emphasized the need for accountability and resilience among his players, stating, “We cannot isolate ourselves; we must be responsible and aware of our current situation.” He clarified that his call for “lightness” in play is not about being superficial but rather about maintaining a positive mindset and focusing on their game quality.

As the team prepares for the upcoming match, Pecchia reiterated the importance of treating every game as an opportunity to secure three points. “Every match must be played for the three points,” he asserted. With nearly 100 matches under his belt since taking charge, he has consistently urged his players to approach each contest with the intent to win.

The injury situation has been particularly concerning for Parma, with reports indicating that the number of injuries has nearly doubled compared to last season. Pecchia noted, “Losing two players to serious injuries is unfortunate, but this season has forced us to perform differently than last year.” He acknowledged that many teams are experiencing high injury rates this season, stating, “It’s a normal part of this campaign; there’s a very high percentage across various teams.”

Despite these setbacks, Pecchia expressed pride in players like Sohm, who has recently received a national team call-up after demonstrating hard work and dedication. “I’m very happy for Sohm; he has worked incredibly hard. I hope this serves as a starting point for him,” he said. The coach hopes this recognition will motivate Sohm and the rest of the squad as they navigate through this challenging phase.

Looking ahead, Pecchia is focused on overcoming these obstacles and instilling a sense of determination in his team. He remarked, “Injuries are part of football, but how we respond to adversity will define our season.” As Parma gears up for their match against Venezia, all eyes will be on how they adapt and strive for success amidst these challenges.
