Hellas Verona Football Club has officially changed hands, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the storied club’s history. Presidio Investors, a private equity firm based in Austin, Texas, has completed the acquisition of 100% ownership from long-time owner Maurizio Setti.

The acquisition signals a significant shift for the Serie A club, with Presidio committed to building upon the foundations laid by Setti during his thirteen-season tenure. The new ownership structure brings a wealth of experience in sports management and international business to Verona.

Leading the club into this new era is a highly qualified Board of Directors, with Italo Zanzi stepping in as Executive Chairman. Zanzi’s impressive resume includes previous roles as CEO of AS Roma, Managing Director of FOX Sports Asia, and Vice President of Major League Baseball.

In a move that ensures continuity, Maurizio Setti will remain involved with the club in the newly created role of Senior Advisor of Football Operations. He will support the sporting staff and Sporting Director Sean Sogliano, who will retain his position. Simona Gioè will also maintain a leadership role, joined by Gennaro Leo and Sean Foley, both established managers in international sports.

Italo Zanzi expressed his honor in joining Hellas Verona, emphasizing the club’s embodiment of Verona’s passion and heritage. He pledged to respect the rich tradition of the society while working towards strengthening it in all areas. Zanzi acknowledged the responsibilities that come with acquiring the club and looked forward to supporting the staff, players, and fans in realizing a growth plan that will make the club increasingly competitive.

He thanked President Setti for his valuable work and for facilitating the transition, expressing confidence that Setti’s continued involvement, along with that of Sean Sogliano and Simona Gioè, will play an important role in the club’s future success.

He expressed confidence in Presidio Investors’ ability to secure the best possible future for the club and voiced his satisfaction in continuing his relationship with Hellas Verona in his new advisory role.
