The father of Genoa star Albert Gudmunsson says his son could play anywhere, but hope’s he remains in Serie A. The future of the Genoa forward, who scored 14 goals in 34 league matches, is still up in the air, after a strong campaign which has drawn the attention of a number of sides. Inter and Juventus are closely monitoring his situation, while there’s also reported interest from the Premier League. Speaking with Calciomercato.it, Guomundur Benediktsson explained why he hopes his son chooses to remain in Italy:
“Albert loves Italy, and that’s no surprise because everyone should love Italy. The food, the people, the wine, your passion for football, your style. What’s not to love about Italy? He loves his life in Genoa, and I still see him there, but in football, anything can happen.
“Let’s not forget that Genoa is also a great club. Inter, Juve, or Premier League? Albert would do well anywhere, but this isn’t the time to talk about other teams. There are still 4 matches to play this season, and Albert is fully focused on Genoa. I think every player wants to play at the highest level possible, and Albert probably isn’t an exception. Personally, I would like to see him stay in Italy.”
