Gudmundsson agent: ‘Napoli are interested in him’

Albert Gudmundsson’s agent has confirmed that Napoli are the latest team to be interested in the Icelandic forward. The 26-year-old has become a hot commodity in the transfer market, scoring 20 goals for club and country, with the Partenopoei now joining Juventus and Inter in the race for his signature.

Gabriele Giuffrida, Gudmundsson’s agent, confirmed Napoli’s interest in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss 24:

“Yes, it’s true,” Giuffrida stated. “Napoli’s interest in Albert is absolutely concrete.”

This development comes after Inter’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, publicly acknowledged the club’s interest in Gudmundsson, and Juventus has been quietly tracking the player for weeks. Now, Aurelio De Laurentiis’ Napoli has officially entered the fray, seeking to secure one of the most impressive players of the current season.

In January, Genoa rejected a €25 million offer from Fiorentina for Gudmundsson. However, the club is now more open to the idea of letting their star player move on, provided their financial demands are met. Genoa is reportedly asking for no less than €35 million, a sum that must be paid largely in cash rather than through player exchanges—a strategy both Juventus and Inter had considered.

Napoli, poised to benefit from the imminent sale of Victor Osimhen, might be in a strong position to meet Genoa’s valuation without resorting to player swaps. This financial boost could give them an edge over their Italian rivals in the bidding war for Gudmundsson.

However, there’s a potential twist in the tale. Gudmundsson is also attracting interest from abroad, with Tottenham and Bayern Munich keeping tabs on him. Despite his stated preference to stay in Italy, the lure of playing for major clubs in the Premier League or the Bundesliga could prove irresistible.
