Former Atalanta and Inter wing-back Robin Gosens has officially been presented as a new Fiorentina signing. The German international shared his thoughts and expectations in a press conference, expressing his enthusiasm for this new chapter in his career.
Gosens began by highlighting the significance of his move to Fiorentina: “Fiorentina means a lot to me. I wanted a new phase for myself and my family. Despite being German and living in Berlin, we never felt at home there as we did in Italy. I’m grateful that Fiorentina has given me the opportunity to prove myself again. The best part of my career was here in Italy, where Atalanta helped me grow tremendously.”
Comparing his new manager Palladino with his former coach Gasperini, Gosens noted similarities: “They are both very similar, just look at the intensity of the training sessions. I’ve only been here a short time with Palladino, while I spent five years with Gasperini.”
The left-back expressed high hopes for his new adventure: “I expect a lot from this experience. The team is strong, and I’ve seen significant potential. There are many new players, and everyone wants immediate results. I understand that’s how sports work, but there’s also a coach with new ideas: a little patience is always good. We’re on an important path and improving gradually. I expect a lot from the season; Florence is an important place, and I’m sure we’ll do very well.”
Gosens also touched on his integration into the team’s tactical setup: “The main focus of these ten days has been solely on the defensive phase. We need to improve a lot, and many had only played in a four-man defense before. There are always improvements to be made, but we’re on the right track. The center-backs are understanding the coach’s ideas more and more, and I’m very confident.”
He praised his teammate Parisi for helping him integrate and expressed his willingness to reciprocate: “Parisi has helped me a lot to integrate. I’m also available if he needs anything.” Gosens also mentioned his hope to form a strong connection with Moise Kean on the field.
