Juventus Chief Football Officer Cristiano Giuntoli recently spoke with Mediaset ahead of the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against AC Milan. His comments touched on various topics, including player injuries, potential transfers, and the club’s current strategy.
Giuntoli acknowledged the frustrations within the team, particularly due to numerous injuries affecting player availability. He noted, “Perhaps we are frustrated by the many injuries; some points may be missing, but we are starting to see the light.” This optimism reflects a gradual recovery in team performance despite challenges.
Regarding young player Yildiz being on the bench for the upcoming match, Giuntoli explained that his absence is more about tactical decisions than technical skills. “In a match like this, which is knockout, I believe it’s more tactical than technical, especially considering the final,” he stated.
Giuntoli also addressed the complexities of the January transfer market. He mentioned Fikayo Tomori as an interesting player but emphasized that January is a challenging time for transfers. “We know January is a difficult market; we must be careful about how others move because everyone has different dynamics,” he remarked.
When discussing Joshua Zirkzee, who is currently with Manchester United, Giuntoli clarified that there have been no discussions with United regarding Zirkzee. “We have never spoken with United; they have situations to resolve, so we must stay alert,” he said. He added that with the current conditions surrounding striker Arkadiusz Milik, Juventus has specific needs to address.
