In the lead-up to Juventus’ match against Venezia, Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli addressed the media, sharing insights on the team’s current situation and future prospects. His comments came after a challenging period for the club, which has seen injuries impact their squad depth.
Giuntoli began by reflecting on the importance of their recent match against Manchester City, stating, “The match against City was very important for us; it’s one of those challenges that helps you grow. The result is significant, but the performance was also of a high level.” He emphasized that the stakes remain high in Serie A as Juventus aims to compete for the title. “The stakes are always high; we want to win as we always do. Sometimes we succeed, and other times we don’t.”
Addressing the upcoming January transfer window, Giuntoli acknowledged the challenges posed by injuries: “For two months, we have been missing between five to nine players, including two defenders who will not return for the rest of the season. We need to do something in defense; our intention is to retain everyone and wait for those who have contributed partially.”
When asked about striker Arek Milik’s recovery, Giuntoli expressed optimism: “Milik is recovering; his knee isn’t giving him problems. We hope he can make a quick return.” He also commented on the potential interest in Bayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee, saying, “Zirkzee? He is a very good player, but he belongs to another team. We are waiting for Milik.”
Giuntoli further discussed the club’s ambitions and the mentality within Juventus. “The ownership is always very ambitious, but everyone is aware of the moment we are in. We need to fix some things on and off the pitch. The team is young, and we are convinced they will have a great future.”
