Juventus’ technical director Cristiano Giuntoli spoke to the media ahead of the team’s UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
Regarding the match, Giuntoli expressed hope for “a beautiful game, with two teams facing each other to win.”
On the team selection and Fagioli’s new midfield position, he said: “We’re happy. The manager currently has many new players, we’re in the process of getting to know them and evaluating them. Tonight will be a great test for him and for all of Juventus.”
When asked about Thiago Motta’s consistent attacking lineup, Giuntoli commented: “He probably wants to give continuity to players who arrived later. It’s a choice. At the moment, we’re doing very well. These matches help us understand where we stand.”
Addressing Milik’s new injury setback, Giuntoli stated: “We couldn’t have known. We’re sorry for us and especially for the player. However, the manager has shown he knows how to move the pieces, with players who can play alongside or in place of Dusan. He will find the right solutions as he has done in the past. We hope to have Milik available soon.”
On fans’ expectations, Giuntoli described the team as “new, young, with a great desire to do well, great curiosity, and eagerness to perform well.”
When asked about individual players, he emphasized the importance of the team as a whole: “It’s incorrect to talk about individuals at this moment. Many are doing well. We’ve started a journey that won’t be short, and we’re curious to see what we can do.”
Lastly, commenting on Leipzig’s players Sesko and Nusa, Giuntoli acknowledged: “They have good players, they really have many. An important team, it will be a good test for us.”
