Giuntoli: ‘Lippi’s Juventus was the emblem of the club’

Start

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli believes Marcello Lippi’s Bianconeri side was the ’emblem of the club’. The Juve director was speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport at the Trento Sports Festival and recounted his love for the Old Lady of Italian football, which began with his father:

“My father? He was a Juve fanatic. I had more of a 360-degree vision, he was a big fan. I kind of miss sharing these moments with him. He would have been happy and proud but also a little worried today. In my family they are all Juventus fans: they too have a sense of responsibility for this club they love.”

“With the club Prato Juventus we used to go to see Juve. I was a child who dreamed a lot. The passion comes from my grandfather where we used to talk about football, cycling. The first time at the stadium? In Bologna, I don’t remember which game it was but there was a lot of rain. The first one I remember was Pistoiese-Juventus: particular situations because we had to keep quiet and not celebrate the goals (laughs, ed.).”

‘The Juve I loved the most was perhaps that of Platini and Boniek. I also want to remember Lippi’s because I think it was really the emblem of the club. Marcello did an extraordinary thing. The victories all have great appeal in all categories. The most important victory? The next one’.
