Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli refused to be drawn into a war of words with Sassuolo: ‘We don’t comment on the actions of other clubs’. The Bianconeri have been closely linked with a move for Neroverdi captain Domenico Berardi, but Sassuolo director Giovani Carnevali insists that Juve had missed the deadline to negotiate for the winger.
Speaking ahead of Juve’s match against Udinese, Giuntoli refused to respond to Carnevali’s comments, saying only that the club would continue to keep an eye on market opportunities:
Let’s take stock of these first few months. Have all your goals been met or should we expect a little something between now and the end?
“The Juve environment has welcomed me very well, from the technical staff, to the coach, there is a great feeling, all the guys, so I am very happy. Then the months are not many, it’s a little over a month, but we have done a few things, as we said at the beginning, we have to be a little careful with the accounts, we have to fix a few things, but let’s say we are very happy with the team we have, we are very satisfied and we believe we can do very well.”
Were you surprised by Carnevali’s words? Should we consider the negotiation for Berardi doomed?
“We don’t comment on the actions of other clubs, we just say that we are talking every day with the coach to understand, just making a competition, if it is the case, to send our boys for experience in case they don’t have so much space. Then Juventus always has to be careful if there is some important opportunity from a technical point of view and in accordance with our economic size, why not…”
Is this deadline of August 17 confirmed or not?
“I said we do not comment on the actions of other clubs.”
Kean, indiscipline or injury?
“Absolutely and injury… Kean is one of our five strikers, we are very happy to have him, Chiesa, Vlahovic, Kean, Yildiz and Milik form a very important attack.”
Will Juventus target Vlahovic? Or does the exchange with Lukaku still remain a viable option?
“I repeat, we are very happy with the team we have, our five strikers are very good and we are betting on them. Not on one in particular, but on all of them.”
