Cristiano Giuntoli, the Managing Director of Football at Juventus, recently shared his insights on the complexities of being a sporting director during a lecture at Coverciano. His participation in the course dedicated to training future sporting directors highlighted the challenges and responsibilities that come with the role.

At the beginning of his lecture, Giuntoli emphasized the importance of passion in this profession. “To do this job, we must be driven by great passion. But if you are here today, in front of me, it means you have it. We also need personality and great strength of character. Our role is very complicated,” he stated, engaging with students eager to learn from his experiences.

The session opened with a light-hearted moment when Riccardo Motta, currently responsible for scouting at Carpi and an attendee of the course, presented Giuntoli with a Carpi scarf as a gesture of respect and camaraderie.

Giuntoli’s lecture was part of an intensive day at the course for aspiring sporting directors, which featured notable speakers such as Rafa Benitez, Riccardo Bigon, and Stefano Braghin, the current Women’s Football Director at Juventus. The previous day included contributions from Frederic Massara, the sporting director of Rennes, Roberto D’Aversa, head coach of Empoli, Gianluca Rocchi, head of referees, and Alberto Marangon, team manager of AC Milan.
