Genoa boss Alberto Gilardino offered an update on his squad ahead of their trip to Bergamo to face Atalanta tomorrow. Despite a patchy start to the campaign, the Rossoblu have played some encouraging football under their young coach, with Mateo Retegui and Albert Gudmundsen particularly impressing. Speaking with the press ahead of the match with La Dea, Gilardino revealed which players he can expect to field tomorrow:
“Retegui and Messias worked separately again, as did Strootman and Jagiello. Retegui is training with the trainer and has set everything up to work on the body and with the ball. It’s a different story for Messias: with him the recovery time is longer because he had a more serious injury.
“However, I can say that Badelj will be back. Having him with us is very important, while for Strootman and Jagiello I think we’ll talk about it from next week: Kevin I expect to have him available in seven days, while Jagiello in about ten.
“Vasquez, on the other hand, is to be evaluated: he’s been training these days, but I haven’t decided yet whether or not he’ll be with us tomorrow. He is an important player, but so is our entire defence: Vogliacco is training well, as are Dragusin and Bani who are doing a good job, not forgetting De Winter I can use him in different roles.”
