Faouzi Ghoulam, the former Napoli defender, recently appeared on Sky Calcio Show, where he shared his insights about Juventus and their Football Director, Cristiano Giuntoli, with whom he has a strong rapport from their time together at Napoli. Ghoulam expressed his belief that Juventus will dominate in the coming years, stating, “I think Juventus will tear everyone apart, not this year, but starting next year. First of all, because it’s Juventus; it’s a very important club in Italy and cannot remain at these levels, as we all know.”
He continued to praise Giuntoli’s capabilities, saying, “I know the sporting director Giuntoli very well; I worked with him for several years. We had many discussions during our time at Napoli, and he is truly strong. I rarely say this, but he often talked about 4-5-6 players he wanted to bring in. He would mention a player who might not come right away, but the following year, that player—who no one knew at first—would be worth 50-60 million.”
Ghoulam reflected on the persistence of Giuntoli’s scouting efforts: “I, Mertens, and Koulibaly would say: once is fine, twice is fine, but then for four years in a row he wanted a player who didn’t arrive and then found himself at Manchester City, Real Madrid, or Barcelona. We were surprised. I saw how he worked with the group, the coach, and the club. When you have someone so serious in charge, it’s certain that if you give them time, they will grow a club and develop the team.”
