Following Dan Sucu’s recent acquisition of Genoa, the Italian club is already making waves in the transfer market. According to reports from Romania, the Ligurian side have set their sights on Romanian attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi for the January transfer window.
Hagi, born in 1998, is currently under contract with Scottish giants Rangers until June 2026. This season, he has made eight appearances for the Glasgow club, scoring one goal and providing three assists, while also accumulating two yellow cards and one red card.
The talented playmaker is no stranger to Italian football, having previously played for Fiorentina. However, his stint with the Viola was brief, making only two appearances for the first team. Fiorentina initially acquired Hagi from Viitorul in the summer of 2016 for €2 million, before selling him back to the Romanian club in January 2018 for €2.8 million.
Ianis Hagi comes from a prestigious footballing lineage, being the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi. The elder Hagi enjoyed a illustrious career, playing for top clubs such as Steaua Bucharest, Real Madrid, Brescia, Barcelona, and Galatasaray.
