Genoa’s sporting director, Marco Ottolini, has confirmed that Mario Balotelli is set to join the club, with the official signing expected to take place tomorrow. Speaking to DAZN before Genoa’s match against Lazio, Ottolini discussed the decision to bring the controversial striker on board.
“As we’ve mentioned before, we were assessing the conditions of our injured players before making any decisions,” Ottolini explained. “This week, we didn’t receive positive news about Vitinha and Messias, and on top of that, we had Ekuban’s injury. Therefore, we decided to go all in with Balotelli.”
The sporting director expressed optimism about Balotelli’s arrival, highlighting the player’s enthusiasm for the move. “We expect great enthusiasm from him. He has shown a strong desire to return to football and to come to Genoa,” Ottolini stated.
Barring any unexpected developments, Balotelli’s transfer to Genoa appears to be a done deal. “Unless there are any surprises, tomorrow he will be a Genoa player,” Ottolini confirmed.
Ottolini emphasized the positive impact Balotelli has already had on the club, even before officially signing. “He has transmitted great positivity to us,” the sporting director remarked, suggesting that Balotelli’s attitude and energy could be valuable assets for the team.
This move marks another chapter in Balotelli’s eventful career, as he returns to Serie A with Genoa. The club will be hoping that the striker’s experience and talent can help bolster their attacking options, especially in light of recent injury setbacks.
