Genoa manager Gilardino endorses potential Balotelli signing

Start

Genoa manager Alberto Gilardino has expressed his support for the potential signing of free agent Mario Balotelli. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the team’s match against Lazio, Gilardino addressed the speculation surrounding the striker’s possible arrival.

“Yes, absolutely,” Gilardino responded when asked if Balotelli would be a suitable player for Genoa. “He’s a free agent, someone I know, and his history speaks for itself. He’s a player who still has motivation and fire that would serve him well to perform at a high level again.”

The manager continued, emphasizing the immediate focus on the upcoming match: “But as I said before, given tomorrow’s game and out of respect for my players, it’s reductive to talk about who isn’t here. The club knows my thoughts, it’s clear to everyone. We’ve been discussing certain situations for two or three weeks now, and we’re a bit behind schedule.”

Genoa’s interest in reinforcing their attack comes in the wake of several player departures and injuries, particularly in the forward positions. While Balotelli is a prominent name under consideration, the club is also reportedly exploring other options including Ounas, Ben Yedder, and Choupo-Moting, though the latter is said to be hesitant about the move.
