Genoa, under the management of Patrick Vieira, have received disappointing news regarding Junior Messias. Recent medical examinations have confirmed the worst fears about the Brazilian player’s condition, following a muscular setback he suffered just before last weekend’s match against Torino.
According to the club’s statement, Messias has sustained a soleus muscle strain that will keep him off the pitch for several weeks. The injury is expected to sideline him until the beginning of 2025, dealing a significant blow to Genoa’s squad depth.
This season has been particularly challenging for Messias due to recurring injuries. He has only managed to appear in five Serie A matches, scoring just once. His second goal of the season came in his sole Coppa Italia appearance. The forward’s fitness issues have caused him to miss nine matches between September and November, with his most recent return to action coming on November 24th in the game against Cagliari.
