Speaking to Sky Sport’s microphones, Genoa’s CEO Blazquez provided insights into the just-concluded transfer window:
“Dragusin? He wanted to stay to help us achieve our goals, but his sale was necessary to acquire new important players like Bohinen, Spence, Ankeye, and Vitinha.”
Regarding Fiorentina’s interest in Gudmundsson, Blazquez stated, “He was not for sale. We thank Fiorentina, but I clearly told Barone that we were not interested in selling the player. I rejected the first offer in three minutes, while I didn’t respond to the second because our intentions were already clear.”
Blazquez also addressed Gilardino’s contract renewal: “He wanted a one-year contract to have options afterward, and we accommodated him. We have often discussed renewal.”
On Gilardino, he added, “We will continue to do so in the coming months to find the right formula, to provide him with the right players for a medium to long-term project. We hope to find a solution.”
