Gazzetta: Thiago Motta’s new Juventus: Seven players set to depart

Start

As Thiago Motta prepares to take the helm at Juventus, he has already identified seven players who do not fit into his plans for the club’s future. These players are unlikely to join the pre-season training camp and include some surprising names.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the list of departures begins with Moise Kean, who is close to finalizing a move to Fiorentina for €13 million plus €5 million in potential bonuses. Arkadiusz Milik is another striker deemed surplus to requirements, with Motta considering him not “fresh” enough for his project.

Weston McKennie’s future at Juventus remains uncertain despite his failed transfer to Aston Villa. Mattia De Sciglio and Filip Kostic are also set to leave, while Daniele Rugani’s inclusion on the list comes as a surprise, given his recent contract renewal.

Arthur, returning from a loan spell at Fiorentina, will not be given another chance at Juventus. The Brazilian’s departure would significantly reduce the wage bill, given his annual gross salary of over €7 million.

Beyond these seven players, Juventus is looking to offload others. Wojciech Szczesny is close to joining Al Nassr, while Alex Sandro has already bid farewell. Young talents like Enxo Barrenechea, Samuel Iling Junior, and Kaio Jorge have also departed.

The club faces more complex situations with Federico Chiesa and Matias Soulé. Chiesa’s contract expires in 2025, and negotiations for an extension are on hold. Soulé, despite impressing Motta, could be sold if a substantial offer arrives.

These departures are crucial for Juventus to finance incoming transfers. The club has already secured Di Gregorio as goalkeeper and Douglas Luiz in midfield, with Khephren Thuram expected to join soon. Other targets include Teun Koopmeiners and Mason Greenwood, as Motta and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli work to reshape the squad for the upcoming season.
