A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Napoli will not be renewing the contracts of Matteo Politano, Mario Rui, Piotr Zielinski and Hirving Lozano. The newspaper outlines how the Partenopei have decided to follow a very specific policy: no extensions for players over 30: the only exception being Giovanni Di Lorenzo.
The suggestion is that for the moment there is no negotiation with the four mentioned players and those who want to stay will have to reduce their salaries to go along with the cost-containment policy inaugurated by President Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Meanwhile, Di Lorenzo’s renewal is expected to be until 2028, a contract that’s expected to be signed at the end of the championship, while his agent, Mario Giuffredi, is waiting for clarification on his other two clients, Mario Rui and Matteo Politano.
Gazzetta write that there is no tension at the club, but several things to be verified and settled. First of all on Di Lorenzo’s renewal, and then o. But at the moment Napoli does not foresee renewals for players now over 30 (the captain who will turn 30 in August is the exception).”
For the same reason in the club’s strategies, at the moment there is no provision for renewing with Zielinski, who just last Sunday said that he wanted to stay, and the same rule applying to Lozano. The duo have very expensive contracts for the club’s budget and their contracts are set to expire in 2024.
