Gazzetta: Juventus secure Initial agreement with Thuram

Start

Juventus are pressing forward in their pursuit of Khephren Thuram from Nice, potentially anticipating Adrien Rabiot’s departure. Following the acquisition of Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, the Bianconeri have intensified their efforts to secure Thuram’s services.

Gazzetta dello Sport report how Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ sporting director, has received positive signals from Thuram regarding a potential move to Turin. This is a significant step, although not yet decisive. Thuram’s interest strengthens Juventus’ position, but they are not the only club eyeing the talented 23-year-old midfielder.

The Bianconeri aim to expedite negotiations to avoid competition from English clubs and potential interest from Inter Milan, who have good relations with the Thuram family following Marcus Thuram’s successful transfer last year.

Juve are reportedly working to quickly reach an agreement with both Thuram’s representatives and Nice. The French club initially values Thuram at €25 million plus bonuses but may be open to negotiations to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2025. Juve are hoping to lower the price to €18-20 million with bonuses or potentially include Moise Kean as part of the deal.

Giuntoli is determined to complete the transfer but needs to generate funds first, possibly through Rabiot’s departure. The investment in Thuram could be offset by the savings from Rabiot’s substantial salary. However, Juventus remains open to various scenarios, including the possibility of signing Thuram even if Rabiot renews his contract, depending on other potential sales.
