Gazzetta: Juventus eyeing Skriniar as defensive reinforcement amid Bremer’s Injury

Start

Juventus are actively seeking an experienced defender for the January transfer window following Gleison Bremer’s injury, which has significantly impacted the team’s defensive solidity. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club’s sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, has identified Milan Skriniar as the prime target, viewing him as the perfect fit for Thiago Motta’s tactical requirements.

Skriniar, currently with Paris Saint-Germain, has struggled to fully integrate into the French club’s plans since his move from Inter Milan. At 29, the Slovak defender is in his prime and could provide the leadership and Serie A experience Juventus desperately needs in Bremer’s absence.

The potential return to Italian football appeals to Skriniar, who thrived in Serie A during his time with Inter. His familiarity with the league could allow for a seamless integration into Juventus’ squad, avoiding the adjustment period often required for new signings.

However, the transfer faces significant financial hurdles. Juventus is operating under budget constraints and cannot afford a substantial transfer fee. The only viable option for the Turin club would be a loan deal, which would require PSG’s cooperation.

Juventus hopes that Skriniar might express his desire to join them, potentially influencing PSG’s stance on a loan move. This strategy echoes Juventus’ approach in recent transfer windows, where player preferences have helped facilitate deals.

As negotiations progress, Juventus remains in contact with agents and intermediaries, exploring all possibilities to strengthen their defense. The club aims to conclude a deal by the end of December to ensure a swift integration of the new defender when the transfer window opens in January.
