Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini addressed the media ahead of the team’s crucial match against Inter Milan, discussing recent transfers and player issues.
Regarding Teun Koopmeiners’ departure to Juventus, Gasperini stated: “He achieved what he wanted, so that’s fine. He gave us a lot. Now I believe everyone is happy. He’s happy, Juventus is happy, and Atalanta is happy. Everyone’s happy and content.”
However, Gasperini expressed concerns about new signing Nicolò Zaniolo: “There’s a Zaniolo problem. It was a gamble we hoped to win, but for now, no. It’s been two months like this. Up front, we only have Retegui and De Ketelaere.”
“Cuadrado? When he plays against you he annoys you a lot, it was an opportunity for us since he was released, he has great desire. I really hope he can find continuity, I found him to be well physically.
“Retegui? He scored two extraordinary goals. They are not two casual goals, the team must take advantage of his qualities, he is not a player who plays only with his head, he has good shooting skills.”
The manager’s comments suggest that Zaniolo, who joined Atalanta with high expectations, has not yet integrated into the team as hoped. This situation leaves Atalanta with limited attacking options as they prepare to face the reigning Serie A champions.
