Gasperini heading towards a renewal with Atalanta until 2026

Start

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini looks set to renew his contract with the club, despite Napoli expressing a strong interest in him. The former Genoa and Palermo tactician took over the reigns at La Dea in 2016 and has gone on to make them one of the most entertaining and in-form teams in Serie A.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that despite the links with Napoli in recent months, Gasperini is very happy in Bergamo, and has no desire to leave a side that he has led to the Coppa Italia final, as well as the semi-finals of the Europa League.

The newspaper write that the bond with Atalanta is a strong one for Gasperini, and while his contract is due to end in June 2025, the 66-year-old is expected to pen a contract renewal, tying him to La Dea until at least 2026.

Gasperini has managed Atalanta for 377 games since 2016, winning 195, drawing 89 and losing 93.
