Gian Piero Gasperini has talked about Charles De Ketelaere after the Belgium international helped Atalanta record a 2-0 triumph in their first Europa League match of the season against Raków Częstochowa: “He has a very particular structure, he’s very tall, he reminds me of Ilicic”.
The 65-year-old also spoke about his team’s win, if he was satisfied with the performance and his response to Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso:
“In the first half we conceded much less than at the end of the match, we recovered the ball well, put good pressure on the opponent. We lacked finishing, a bit of quality in finding the goal. In the second half, we broke the deadlock , we had a lot more space but we conceded something at the end. It needs to be corrected.”
On whether he was satisfied with the team: “It’s not that I’m not satisfied, we played well, a good match. In all aspects. We need to be more concrete and more dangerous. Match dominated for a long time and requires less time to unlock. You don’t always find matches in which you dominate in this way. Even in the best matches you have to look for other things.”
On De Ketelaere: “It was said that he didn’t have much character, but he does. He has personality. He has a very particular structure, he’s very tall, he reminds me of Ilicic.
On Commisso: “He’s rude every time he opens his mouth. He does it with everyone, I don’t even want to answer him, I’ve always defended Atalanta. When I did it I defended them on sensational things, from the Chiesa episode everything was born. We need to go and review it and put it on the web.”
