Atalanta won their third successive game on Wednesday as they defeated Verona 1-0 at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was happy with the result but believes his side can perform better.
La Dea currently sit fourth in the standings after picking up the three points. In his press conference after the match, he shared his thoughts on his team’s performance, Charles De Ketelaere and Emil Holm:
“We were good in the defensive phase at adapting to their constant long balls, we could perhaps have had a bit more courage by often adapting to clearances. I liked the first part of the match, the team’s start was very good, we brought home the three points but we have to aspire to do something more in the technical aspect.”
On De Ketelaere: “He gave us a turning point in the match, maybe he could have scored the goal but that’s okay.”
On Holm: “It’s been a while since he played, we need to see how much he can improve on the break, however he has a good presence and certainly has the means, we need to work on it and it’s important that he is well.”
On Verona’s Isak Hien: “Today we played very compactly, playing with great dedication even if in my opinion (Verona) are not one of the great teams. Hien played a good game, he had important ratings but he remained in Verona, but when De Ketelaere came in, however, he also did well.”
