Garcia: ‘We must put the collective before everything’

Start

Rudi Garcia believes Napoli must put the team before the individual when they face Union Berlin in the Champions League tomorrow evening. The Partenopei sit second in Group C, knowing that a victory against the Bundesliga will put them close to qualification to the last 16, should other results go their way. Speaking ahead of the match, Garcia explained why it would be dangerous to underestimate Union, despite their abysmal recent form which includes 12 losses in all competitions in a row:

“I hope we can improve on our current round in Europe. Teams are always different because the moments, the leagues and the players change. Napoli’s squad is really very strong, the team is strong’

“No match is easy, because it’s the Champions League. The opposition are not in a good moment, but when you meet a team from the five biggest leagues that has qualified for the Champions League, it means you don’t meet a small team.

“What do we expect? A difficult game, as shown by what they did against Real Madrid. We will have to put the collective in front of everything, so we will be able to win. We want the Maradona to come back strong with our fans.

“Injuries? Anguissa is there, Juan Jesus is also coming back. Tomorrow we’ll need to give everything on the pitch to win. Osimhen? He’ll be back tomorrow, but obviously he won’t be available for us”.
