Garcia: ‘Kvaratskhelia will be out as a precaution’

Start

New Napoli boss Rudi Garcia says his team are eager to start the season and confirms that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will sit out the game as a precaution. The defending champions begin the new Serie A campaign against newly promoted Frosinone, and speaking in his pre-match presser, Garcia explained why he is eager to start the season, deflecting questions about the impending transfer of Spanish youngster Gabri Veiga:

“We are looking forward to it. We miss the real competition, which comes tomorrow. We are happy to start. We will have a tough opponent, enthusiastic after promotion.

“Kvaratskhelia? It’s a matter of precaution. Yesterday’s MRI shows that everything is normal, but he feels a discomfort, so better to keep him at rest.”

“The transfer market? I can only talk about my players. I can talk about Natan and Cajuste, about the others not. Then this is the presentation of Frosinone-Napoli, for the market ask (sporting director) Meluso.”

“We are among the favorites, not the favorite. We all start on the same line, we aim high. Except for Kim, the players who played the most last season have stayed. This is important.”

“My squad? Before finding talented players, I found quality men. The group loves to work, the horizon though is not just what they did last year. And I must say they listen, they are curious, about everything.”
