Galliani backs Nesta and confirms Maldini’s stay at Monza

Start

Monza CEO Adriano Galliani, has addressed recent speculation about the club’s future, particularly regarding head coach Alessandro Nesta and young talent Daniel Maldini. Despite a challenging start to the season, Galliani expressed confidence in Nesta’s leadership and clarified the situation surrounding Maldini’s future.

Addressing rumors of a potential coaching change, Galliani stated, “I’ve seen Nesta very determined and very angry because he’s looking for a solution to get points. Beyond our affectionate relationship of many years, we chose him because, according to statistics, he played in the most similar way to Palladino. He has our confidence and is not at any risk, but now is the time to get points.”

Galliani remains optimistic about the team’s performances, despite recent results. “Monza is playing well. The last three games against important teams like Atalanta, Milan, and Lazio, we played at least on par with them. It’s useless to recall the recognized refereeing errors that disallowed a goal for us in Bergamo and one against Milan, but we are playing well. We have fewer points than we deserve, but this is the standings,” he explained.

Regarding Daniel Maldini’s future, Galliani dismissed rumors of a January exit clause and emphasized the club’s commitment to retaining the young player. “We shouldn’t think about the market now; we need to focus on getting points until January. Then we’ll see about the market. Maldini is a player with great potential who is growing and can improve a lot more. There’s no clause in January: he will finish the year at Monza, then we’ll see next year,” Galliani clarified.
