Galatasaray shift focus to Milan’s Ballo-Touré after Zalewski deal falls through

Start

Galatasaray’s pursuit of Roma’s Nicola Zalewski has come to an end, with the Polish winger opting to remain in the Italian capital. The Turkish club’s offer of €8 million plus €2 million in bonuses was rejected by Roma, who held firm on their €10 million valuation. Despite last-minute attempts to bridge the gap, Zalewski ultimately decided against the move to the Turkish Super Lig.

Calciomercato report how with the Turkish transfer window set to close on September 13, Galatasaray have quickly pivoted to a new target: AC Milan’s Fodé Ballo-Touré. The Senegalese left-back has been out of favor at Milan, training separately from the first team since the start of the season.

Reports suggest that a meeting between Milan representatives and Galatasaray emissaries could take place in Milan in the coming hours, as both parties seek a last-minute solution. This potential deal could satisfy both the Turkish club’s need for a left-back and Milan’s desire to offload a player who is not part of Paulo Fonseca’s plans.

Interestingly, Ballo-Touré had previously turned down a move to Saint-Etienne, hoping for an opportunity in the Premier League. However, with no offers materializing from England, he now finds himself in a precarious position at Milan.

The Italian club are keen to finalize a deal, partly to save on Ballo-Touré’s wages for the final year of his contract. Thanks to the benefits of the Growth Decree, his net salary of €1 million translates to a gross cost of approximately €1.31 million for Milan.
