Roma legend Francesco Totti recently shared his thoughts on the current state of his former club and Italian football in general. Speaking to Sky Sport during the Bruno Conti Event, Totti touched on several topics, including Roma’s managerial change and the relationship between players and fans.
Regarding Roma’s new coach Ivan Juric, Totti expressed optimism: “Juric has started off on the right foot. We all know that Roma is a particular and demanding place, and we hope he can have a good run both in the league and in Europe.”
When asked about his relationship with former teammate Daniele De Rossi, Totti dismissed rumors of any rift between them: “I’ve been in touch with De Rossi as I always have been because we talk about private life and not just football. They’ve amplified some problems between us, but we’re two friends. For me, it’s normal to hear from him. The rest is just chatter.”
Totti also addressed the recent criticism faced by Roma players Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini, who were booed by fans. He explained: “Roma is demanding. When things don’t go well, the whistles come, and if you don’t have the right character and motivation, you struggle. We’re talking about two great players who will do well for Roma. Regaining the fans’ trust will be up to them on the field.”
The Roma icon emphasized the high expectations of the fanbase: “Roma is a demanding place. When things don’t go well, the whistles come.”
