Former Nice player Alexy Bosetti has expressed his strong disapproval of Adrien Rabiot’s transfer to Olympique Marseille. In a candid interview with L’Equipe, Bosetti didn’t mince words about his feelings towards the move.
“What does Rabiot’s arrival at Marseille inspire in me? It disgusts me,” Bosetti stated bluntly. “I’m not saying he should spend twenty years at the same club, but you must have a minimum of respect. Look at Lucas Hernandez: he’s from Marseille, he leaves Bayern and an hour later says, ‘Ici c’est Paris!’ All of this is ridiculous. It’s not like he was at Annecy and PSG offered him a contract. A player can always choose to sign. He can refuse, and Rabiot could have done that too. It’s shameful, it’s everything I hate about football today.”
Bosetti, known for his loyalty to Nice, his hometown club, contrasted his own choices with those of players like Rabiot. “From an economic standpoint, the others are right. I don’t have Rabiot’s qualities, but I would have been much richer if I didn’t have this dignity. This summer, some rival clubs of Nice contacted me, and I said no, even though I was unemployed. They had a lot of money, but I prefer Imperia. At least I can walk with my head held high in Nice. I can’t see myself signing for Cannes with the South Brigade tattoo.”
The player also commented on the Marseille fans’ reaction to Rabiot’s arrival: “They were all at the airport singing, what a shame… They’re happy, they’ve signed a PSG player. Mind you, he’s a great player, it will do them good. But if a Marseille player comes to Nice, I’m not going to the airport…”
