AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca confirmed young talent Francesco Camarda will feature in the Rossoneri’s match against Cagliari. Following an impressive victory against Real Madrid in the Champions League, Fonseca emphasized the need for his team to maintain that winning spirit in his pre-match presser.
He stated, “It is important to keep the spirit we showed at the Bernabeu, the courage. However, the match against Cagliari will be different and very important; we need to be a different team. The right attitude will be essential.” Fonseca acknowledged that confidence has increased following their recent success but reminded everyone that every match is vital.
Discussing player roles, Fonseca confirmed that young talent Camarda would start the match. He expressed confidence in Camarda’s abilities, saying, “For me, it is not surprising. He trains with us every day and shows quality. I believe everyone at the club has faith in him.” This decision reflects Fonseca’s willingness to trust younger players in key positions.
On the topic of Rafael Leão, Fonseca revealed that he would also be starting against Cagliari. He remarked, “I said after Madrid that he can do even better, especially in certain situations. He played a great match, and I expect him to perform at that level again.” Fonseca noted their positive working relationship and mentioned that he has been trying different strategies with Leão to maximize his impact on the field: “The relationship with Leão has always been good. I have tried to have a strategy with him; perhaps it wasn’t the best before, but now I am trying another approach and it is having an effect.”
The coach also addressed concerns regarding Álvaro Morata’s fitness after a recent injury. “It was a strange situation after his clash with Pavlovic,” he explained. “He is doing well but is not ready to play yet due to protocol following such an incident.”
Reflecting on his relationship with fans post-victory over Real Madrid, Fonseca acknowledged their support but emphasized his focus on consistency: “After the win against Real, it’s normal for them to feel more affection towards us. But for me, nothing has changed. I must follow the path I believe in and remain balanced.”
Fonseca concluded by reiterating the importance of maintaining focus as they prepare for Cagliari: “At this moment, we cannot afford to drop points. If we do not win against Cagliari, then our victory against Real will mean nothing.”
