Milan defender Alessandro Florenzi admitted that he was ‘very angry’ after the 1-1 draw against Salernitana: ”We are disappointed and embittered’. It was a positive evening for the defender who finally made his return to the pitch after a long spell on the sidelines through injury, but the result clearly left him frustrated. Speaking with DAZN (as quoted by SempreMilan) after the match, the veteran full-back expressed his disappointment at more points dropped from a winning position and why the team now need to focus on the next match:
“Did I leave the pitch feeling angry? Definitely very angry, we wanted the three points even by creating last-minute chances by throwing a few balls over the top. We are disappointed and embittered, let’s roll up our sleeves and think about the next one.”
“Being the QF’s of the Champions League? The history of Milan speaks for itself. It had been too long since Milan hadn’t been there, 11 years. We have brought this team back to big stages, we will try to do our best by playing our football.”
“It was a good personal feeling, but it’s a pity about the draw. We wanted to win. Now we’ll start again immediately. We’ve created a lot. Maybe at other times on certain occasions the ball goes in.”
“The Champions League? I don’t see this difference between Italy and Europe, the team always trains well. Yesterday we did a similar final session to the one before Tottenham. The matches are all different, there are many factors. We have to keep working.”
“The Maignan performance? His save on Dia is like a goal. We know his value, without belittling what Tatarusanu did. You always judge the last game and not things in general. Having said that, Maignan is truly a great goalkeeper.”
