Fiorentina target Mateo Retegui as striking option

Start

Fiorentina have added Mateo Retegui to their list of potential attacking targets for the summer transfer window. Calciomercato report how new coach Raffaele Palladino has requested a striker with the characteristics of Retegui from from the club management: a keen eye for goal, a willingness to sacrifice, ambition, and a great hunger.

In his first season in Italy, Retegui didn’t score a ton (7 goals) due to a few too many physical issues. However, El Tanque’s performances have always been up to par: Gilardino predicted a bright future for him, and Spalletti renewed his faith by taking him to the Euros with Italy.

In the coming hours, Daniele Pradè will meet with Giuseppe Riso to take stock of the situation regarding some targets like Valentin Carboni, Marco Brescianini, and the recently redeemed Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese. A summit that, however, does not change Fiorentina’s intentions regarding Mateo Retegui: the Azzurri striker is the big target, with over a 60% chance of success.

A hint came from Genoa, who invested a whopping €15 million to redeem the Portuguese striker from Marseille. For Retegui, the Ligurian club is asking for €30 million but could settle for reaching that figure with bonuses. After the initial positive contacts with the agents, Fiorentina is now ready to truly take the field with Genoa; the game for Retegui is about to begin.
