Former Inter winger Luis Figo has shared his thoughts on this season’s Champions League but doesn’t think any of the three Italian sides that have made it to the quarter-finals are likely to go on and win the competition. Speaking with journalists at the presentation of the new edition of the Vicente Del Bosque Campus, as quoted by FCInter1908, the former Ballon d’Or winner favours either Manchester City or Bayern Munich to be crowned winners.
Italy will have three teams in the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2006 as Napoli, Inter and Milan have all reached the last eight. The Nerazzurri will play Portuguese outfit Benfica, whilst Napoli and Milan will go head-to-head to battle it out for a spot in the final four. The Partenopei are the team most likely to be able to challenge either City, Bayern, Real Madrid or Chelsea, with the semi-final draws already in place as well. The winner of either Milan or Napoli will face either Inter or Benfica. On the other side of the draw, Real Madrid or Chelsea will face off against either City or Bayern to reach the final.
“In the Champions League you always have to count on Real Madrid, but my favourite is between Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Things are a little more complicated for Inter and I put it more behind the others.”
