FIGC announces new UEFA A licensed coaches: Handanovic and Ribery among notable names

Start

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has officially announced the names of the new coaches who have successfully completed the UEFA A coaching course and passed the necessary exams to obtain their licenses. The list includes several well-known names, many of whom are former Serie A players who have recently retired from professional football.

Among the 43 newly qualified coaches, some standout names include Samir Handanovic, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper and captain who hung up his gloves at the end of the 2022/23 season. Alongside him is Franck Ribery, the French football icon who played for Fiorentina and Salernitana in Italy before retiring. Other notable names include ex-Milan player Luca Antonini, former Juventus and Genoa defender Domenico Criscito, and former Bologna midfielder Alessandro Diamanti.

With the UEFA A license, these coaches are now qualified to manage youth teams at all levels, women’s teams up to Serie A, and men’s first teams up to Serie C. This certification represents a significant step in their coaching careers and opens up various opportunities within Italian and European football.
